Melody Perkins born January 28, 1974(age 33)in Wiesbaden, Germany is a German-American actress and a model. She grew up in Sacramento, California. Her major in college was in quantitative economics. An accomplished dancer, she has performed with the Sacramento Ballet Company and the Jazz Unlimited Dance Company. She also models for the Lands' End company, and broke into acting during a trip around Europe. She said of the experience: "A few years ago, I was traveling in Europe modeling and starred in commercial over there in Italy and France." Nevertheless she has not abandoned modelling entirely, saying "I still do it when I can."

Perkins is perhaps best known for her appearance as the villainess Astronema in the series Power Rangers: In Space. She said on the role: "Love it. It's fun being the bad gal." As Astronema, she was well known for the skin-tight costume that her character wore, and pointed out when asked: "It's really cold when it's cold, and hot when it's hot outside." She reprised the role, this time as the reformed Karone, in the following series Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy. She is the only person to have played the archenemy of the Power Rangers in one season (Astronema in Power Rangers: In Space), and a Power Ranger the next season. She replaced Valerie Vernon who left to battle leukemia, as the Pink Galaxy Ranger. Melody was recently spotted in a State Farm commercial.

Formerly known as Astronema, princess of evil, Karone has abandoned her adventures with the Space Rangers to join the Galaxy team on Terra Venture. She was drawn to protect Kendrix's Quasar Saber after it had fallen into evil hands, and she not only recovered it, but used its power to transform into the new Pink Ranger, carrying on for the fallen Kendrix. She assumed control of the Wildcat Galactazord. Karone is sweet and gentle, a radical departure from her days as a villainess, which she seeks to make amends for by fighting for good. Karone currently resides on Mirinoi along with the rest of Terra Venture's inhabitants. She gave up her powers when she placed his Quasar Saber back into the stone to restore Maya's tribe.
